1-to-1 CS1 tutoring.
Practical support with the statistical theory, RStudio and exam technique needed for CS1. We can work through the areas you find difficult and turn them into methods you can recognise, apply and explain in exam questions.
Support across the parts of CS1 that matter in the exam.
Connect the theory to the question.
CS1 becomes much harder when you know individual formulas or R commands but are not confident about when to use them or what the result means. Tutoring can focus on those connections: recognising what the question is testing, choosing an appropriate method, carrying it out and interpreting the answer properly.
This can be useful if you are...
- sitting CS1 for the first time
- resitting and wanting a more targeted approach
- understanding theory but struggling to apply it
- finding regression, GLMs or Bayesian topics difficult
- wanting focused RStudio/Paper B practice

Free CS1 revision planner.
Choose 4 to 16 revision weeks, enter how many study hours you have already completed and use the IFoA 200-hour recommendation as a simple benchmark. The plan keeps RStudio practice running alongside the theory.

The IFoA recommends 200 study hours for CS1 overall. This is a full-subject recommendation rather than a final-revision quota. Official IFoA source.
Recent exam experience, now working as a qualified actuary.
I passed every IFoA exam first time and now tutor CS1 alongside my work as a qualified actuary and actuarial manager.
CS1 was one of my strongest exams. I keep the exact marks on the About page because I would rather the tutoring be judged on whether it is useful to you.
What a session can look like
- you send topics or questions beforehand
- we meet on Microsoft Teams with screen sharing
- we spend the time on the areas you actually need
- you leave with a clearer next step for your own revision
CS1 tutoring questions.
Can we focus entirely on RStudio/Paper B?
Yes. We can spend the whole session on practical RStudio work if that is where you need the most help.
Can I send topics or questions before the session?
Yes. Sending them beforehand helps me prepare around the exact areas you want to cover.
Can you help if I am resitting CS1?
Yes. We can work out where marks were being lost and build a more targeted mix of theory, questions and RStudio practice.
Do I need regular weekly tutoring?
No. One-off sessions are completely fine, as are more regular sessions if they help.
Not sure whether CS1 tutoring would help?
Tell me what you are currently struggling with and we can work out whether a tutoring session would be useful.
